Chopard’s latest chapter in high jewelry, the Insofu collection, represents a powerful convergence of natural beauty, bold creativity, and ethical innovation. Presented by Co-President Caroline Scheufele, the collection is born from a 6,225-carat Zambian rough emerald, aptly named Insofu , meaning “elephant” in Bemba, due to its colossal size and trunk-like shape.
Rather than selecting pre-cut gems, Chopard embarked on a visionary path by acquiring the rough stone in 2022, collaborating with expert cutters in Geneva to unleash its full potential. The result: 850 carats of luminous emeralds transformed into 15 dazzling pieces, including stunning necklaces, rings, earrings, a bracelet, and an elephant-shaped pendant, a symbol of prosperity and respect for nature.
Each creation fuses the refinement of Art Deco with organic elegance, drawing inspiration from the exuberance of The Great Gatsby . The juxtaposition of pink sapphires, pearls, rubellites, and diamonds highlights the Maison's characteristic joie de vivre .
Sustainability is a key focus. The emeralds are DNA paternity tested by Gübelin, ensuring full traceability. Furthermore, a portion of the proceeds go to Elephant Family , a charity that promotes coexistence between communities and wildlife in Asia.
